Project description
This project aims at the development of a new way of thinking towards a sustainable mobility. Based on the redesign of the region along the river „Emscher“ in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, different scenarios for the future are developed and simulated in order to illustrate the scope for design as well as the potentials for transport and city planning. The scenarios describe possible developments of the transport supply (road network; public transit services; bicycle/foot paths; implementation of innovative mobility concepts such as shared autonomous vehicles, bicycle highways etc.), the land use (housing and industrial development etc.) and the transport demand (sociodemographic information; car ownership; mobility patterns). Local stakeholders and decision-makers as well as citizens will be integrated in the process of scenario development and evaluation.
